Below is the info and pictures from when my dad built this site. If you have time, please read his chapter of this build. Mine is just starting and I have a long way to go. I hope I can make him proud!

Stan’s ’54 Chevy Bel Air

I have been working on this car off and on since 1996. Mostly off until I retired in 2005. I am not sponsored by anyone, I don’t own a garage, and I am not a mechanic by trade. I am a retired U.S. Navy Chief Boatswain’s Mate. While I have modified cars all my life this is my first project of this magnitude. This 1954 Chevrolet 2dr Bel Air was my mothers car. She stopped driving in 1973 and for the last seven years before I started this project, it was used to store trash and garbage to prevent the coyotes from making a mess every night. It had seven coats of paint, most of which were removed. All rubber parts had been destroyed by the heat and the interior which had been stored in the tack room was completely destroyed by pack rats. The only things left were the metal seat frames and the metal rods for the headliner. It was not a pretty sight.
